TÔI YÊU GĐPT CHÁNH PHÁP

ONE of the best things about GDPT is the opportunity it gives young people to be involved. We are encouraged to acknowledge our compassion through charity and volunteer work/events, talents through performance and skills at state and national camps.

I remember when I first joined and Chanh Phap, along with Huyen Quang and Phap Bao, held a Disability Day. It felt amazing when I saw the smiles not only on the faces of the individuals from the com-munity who came to the event, but also on all of the GDPT members involved. Then we did a candle dance at a Vietnamese Charitable Dinner. As I continued to be a member of GDPT, I

found more reasons to feel willing to give my time and dedication to activities. We continued to develop performances for more charity events, such as Voice of Hope. In addition, we continued to ac-tively participate in roaming around Cabramatta with cardboard boxes in our hands to raise money for the bushfires and to clean the community on Clean Up Aus-tralia Day over the years. These

events have caused me to open my eyes to reality, as I have experienced more than I ever would have if I never joined.

One of my favourite activities every Sunday is the lion dancing/martial arts after the long day of Vietnamese and Buddhist Studies. Of course they were... interesting. But, who could deny that the intense exercise that is equivalent to “ownage” as Ken says is somewhat fun. I enjoy Wendy being my lion bum and seeing Kimmy attempt to do a jump split, Nam trying to reach his toes, Davey do-ing his stunts, Kristines random comments, Kelvins extreme enthusiasm (even when he had a bum cramp), Beatrice as she leaves while we have to stay and burn calories and Thaos laziness, as she sits by to watch us cry in pain.

Camp; the best thing about it would have to be living under the same roof as a whole lot of people who just know you so well that they really are a part of your family. Nothing compares to the feeling of warmth and comfort Chanh Phap provides.

As we all say,
